Re-enrollment in the Religious Education program is not automatic and is required to be completed yearly. All families of Religious Education students must be registered in the parish. If you are not registered in the parish, please complete the Parish Registration Form and return it to the church office (609 Kaufman St.) before registering for Religious Education classes.
Registration is available online this year. Class sizes may be limited, so we encourage you to register early to ensure that your child is enrolled. To best organize class lists, a separate registration form and payment must be submitted for each child registering in Religious Education. Links will be available to register and pay for registration only during the dates listed below.
Please be prepared to supply dates and parish names of all sacraments already received. A certificate of Baptism will be required for those preparing for First Holy Communion. A certificate of Baptism and First Holy Communion will be required for those preparing for Confirmation. (A copy is acceptable so long as the parish seal and/or pastor’s signature is visible.) These certificates must be mailed or brought to the church office and given to the DRE by the end of August. Any originals will be copied for the student’s file and returned to the parents.
LATE REGISTRATION: The registration fee per child during this time is $110. Online registration will be available between August 5 – August 19, 2018. For those without access to a computer, late registration will be accepted in the church office on Sunday, August 19 only between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.
AUGUST 19TH IS THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTERING YOUR CHILDREN FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION OR YOUTH.
The registration fee helps offset some of the cost to our parish while providing quality, affordable religious education to our parishioners. If these fees pose a financial hardship, please contact the Religious Education office. No child will be denied catechesis or sacraments due to financial circumstances.
Regular Mass attendance by the family is required for acceptance in Religious Education. Attendance is based on regular donations to the parish. If a family is unable to donate to the parish, an empty envelope tracks your attendance. Your gift to the parish is between you and God and does not affect your ability to enroll your child/children in Religious Education.
Beginning this year, First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation preparation will be 1st and 2nd grades. First Holy Communion will be received at the end of the 2nd grade. Students who were in the 2nd grade during 2017 – 2018 and are enrolled in 3rd grade in 2018 – 2019 will receive First Holy Communion in 2019 with the 2nd grade class.
RCIC (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN)
This is a special class divided into two separate age groups. Primary RCIC and Youth RCIC. It is designed to educate students who have not received sacraments at the age appropriate time and catch up on these sacraments.
Any 2nd — 6th grade student who has not previously attended religious education classes will be enrolled in our Primary RCIC class to catch up on their religious studies and prepare for the sacrament of Baptism (if necessary) and the sacrament of First Holy Communion at the end of the year. To be eligible to attend this class, the parent(s) must meet with the Pastor or Director of Religious Education for approval. Please call 972-938-1953 to make an appointment. Only 3 absences are allowed during the year to receive Baptism and/or First Holy Communion.
Any 7th – 12th grade student who has not previously attended religious education classes will be enrolled in our Youth RCIC class to catch up on their religious studies and prepare for the sacraments they have not received. All students in this class 8th grade and older will receive the sacrament of Confirmation with the Confirmation class. To be eligible to attend this class, the parent(s) must meet with the Pastor or the Director of Religious Education for approval. Please call 972-938-1953 to make an appointment. Only 3 absences are allowed during the year to receive sacraments.
Sacrament preparation is a two-year process. As part of this two-year process, these preparation years must be consecutive. One full year is defined as no more than 3 accumulated absences per year. If the first year of sacrament preparation was received in another parish, a letter written on parish letterhead must be provided to attest that the child adequately received their 1st year of sacrament preparation and signed by the Pastor or appropriate Department Head. If this is not possible, the child will repeat the 1st year of sacrament preparation.
First Holy Communion preparation includes 1st and 2nd grade attendance.
Confirmation preparation includes 7th and 8th grade attendance.

If registering an unbaptized child for the first time who will be enrolling in sacrament preparation, the child’s birth certificate is required. If the child has been baptized, only a baptismal certificate is necessary.
