The Anointing of the Sick celebrates God’s loving concern for those who are suffering. This sacrament is intended for the strengthening and healing of those who are ill, elderly, undergoing surgery or dying. It may be received when a person is at home, in the hospital, in the nursing home or in church within the liturgy of the Eucharist. The sacrament confers a special grace of healing on the individual that is suffering both physically and spiritually. The church recommends not waiting until the person is dying to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick because it is not just a sacrament of the dying.
A prayer service for the sick is offered on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in the church or call the parish office at 972.938.1953 if you or a loved one wishes to receive this sacrament.
