Matrimony
“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life and which is ordered by its nature to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring, has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament between the baptized.” (Code of Canon Law, Canon 1055 §1)
Congratulations to those who are seeking to receive the sacrament of Marriage and thank you for considering our parish!
The process is as follows:
Schedule a Marriage Orientation meeting with the pastor at least six months before the intended wedding date.
After the meeting with the pastor, begin the process of marriage preparation. No wedding date is scheduled until all the prenuptial paperwork is completed at the second meeting with the pastor.
The marriage preparation process includes meetings with the pastor, and a choice of the following options: meetings with a local sponsor couple, Engagement Workshop at Saint Monica Catholic Church (Dallas), marriage preparation courses at Saint Thomas Aquinas (Dallas).
Those getting married in the state of Texas need a Texas marriage license. In Texas, there is a 72 hour waiting period before the license may be used. You may obtain the license from any County Courthouse in Texas as far out as 90 days prior to the wedding. Bring the license to your final meeting with the pastor.
Plan the wedding liturgy.
If a couple is already civilly married and wishes to have their marriage convalidated in the Catholic Church, please contact the parish office.
To begin the marriage process or for any further information, please contact Lydia Diaz at the parish office.
